Bailey – An eight-year-old Italian Greyhound in GA

Available to foster with the intent to adopt or to adopt

Bailey - An Italian Greyhound available through Italian Greyhound Place for adoption

Due to a change in life circumstances (including the addition of a child and moves), Bailey’s owner has made the difficult decision to locate a new home for her that is better suited to her needs. A home offering the following is being requested: breed experience, someone home more than not, no young children, and a fenced yard. Of course, someone with lots of love to share with Bailey and patience, not only as she transitions to a new home, but with “all things” Italian Greyhound.

Bailey, who is eight-years-old and weighs twelve pounds, is a sweet Italian Greyhound who, although somewhat skittish and anxious, is very cuddly and loving with her people. She tends to have a fairly low activity level and loves sitting next to her person or in their lap. She currently lives and gets along fine with another dog and, therefore, a calm, small dog in a new home, assuming compatibility would be okay. Bailey has not been around cats.

Bailey uses dog training pads (currently accident free about 90+% of the time),

but will also potty outside when with other dogs. Accidents primarily occur when Bailey is unsupervised and when she is on flooring that she is not accustomed to i.e., if going from hardwood floors to a rug, she may confuse the rug with her doggy training pad. (Italian Greyhound Place would be glad to provide information on making her potty area distinct from other areas in the house which could assist with some accidents). As always, acceptance and patience with house training is required.

Although not fond of crates, Bailey is fine staying in a mud room area when left alone; is accustomed to leash-walking and only tends to pull when excited; is shy when meeting new people and skittish around active children; and tends to be nervous traveling by car (having a person sit next to her would be a plus). Barking generally only occurs if interactions with a child over-stimulate her, although she will sometimes bark/whine in the car. She does get anxious during storms.

Bailey is described as being “a great companion.” If you would like to explore having a sweet, affectionate canine companion to share your love with, please contact Italian Greyhound Place.
