Adopted Dogs - Winter 2011/2012

HoHo - A three-year old Chihuahua in NY

A Chihuahua located in NY for adoption

This three-year old, seven pound, male Chihuahua is extremely affectionate and well-behaved.  Due to a change in the household (one of his humans had to move due to a family emergency),  HoHo does not have enough human companionship (his current human works long hours and is often away during evenings and weekends). Therefore, HoHo is in need of a new home, preferably with someone who works from home, is retired, or is not gone for long hours. HoHo is housetrained; he is currently walked three times per day and only has accidents if the length of time between walks is too long, such as when his owner works late. He is alert and interested in his surroundings on walks, but good on leash; is great with other pets; skittish with young children; is not crate trained; and is nervous when traveling by car. Hoho has a relatively calm demeanor - he doesn't "wear out" at the dog park, but at home tends to relax and is quite docile. If you

would like a small, canine companion who loves to give and receive affection and attention, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. Oh yes, HoHo loves belly rubs! (Listed 2/21/12)

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of HoHo to a wonderful couple in NY. HoHo now has another Chihuahua his size to play with and, since one of the adults does not work outside of the home, he will have lots of companionship, both human and canine. HoHo was adopted on 3/11/12!

Mouse - A three-year old Italian Greyhound mix in GA

Ten days ago, Mouse was thrown  from a car. Fortunately, a wonderful woman who does rescue was behind the vehicle that Mouse was in and Mouse is now in a temporary foster home. Mouse needs a new home as-soon-as-possible because the foster home is very temporary. This precious girl weighs approximately 23 pounds and is estimated, by the veterinarian, to be three-years old. Mouse is housetrained and has been accident-free, is crate trained, travels well by car, walks very nicely on leash, and is good with other dogs. She cannot go to a home with small children because she will snap if she feels threatened and, due to her interest in chasing cats, would do best in a cat-free home. Mouse is a moderately active dog, but settles down easily. She is very cuddly and eager to please -  basically a very sweet, well-behaved little girl. If you would like to welcome Mouse into your heart and home, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed 2/12/12)

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Mouse to a very welcoming couple in GA . Since one adult is retired and the other is semi-retired, Mouse will receive lots of companionship and attentions. Mouse was adopted on 3/11/12!

Mooky - A two-year old Italian Greyhound in NY

Italian Greyhound Place welcomes Mooky to foster care!

Welcome to Italian Greyhound Place, Mooky!

Mooky is a two-year old, fourteen pound, Italian Greyhound in the care of Italian Greyhound Place. He is very sweet, gentle and affectionate, although timid with new people. Mooky is good with other dogs, crate trained when left alone, and learning to ride nicely in the car. In addition, he is doing quite well with his housetraining and is accident free when in his crate.  He loves to be near you, or in sight of you. Since he is an active guy, someone who likes to go for walks, or even jogs, would be great for him. Mooky is quite responsive  to requests and learns quickly. If you are interested in having a sweet Italian Greyhound boy as a companion, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 2/24/12)

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have rescued, fostered, and rehomed Mooky to a loving home in NY where he has a fenced yard and lots of loving attention. Mooky was adopted on 3/10/12!

Buddy - A seven-year old Italian Greyhound in NJ

This gentle, twenty-three pound guy is in need of a new home - his human companion passed away and the woman's daughter, who is temporarily caring for Buddy, is moving and unable to take Buddy with her. Buddy is housetrained and accident-free in his current home, is good on leash, travels nicely by car, gets along with other dogs, is excellent with children (has not been around infants), and is not good with cats. If there is activity going on, Buddy tends to be playful, but otherwise is happy to relax. He is very loving and likes to be with, or in the vicinity of, someone. Although not crate trained, Buddy is accustomed to staying in a restricted area when left alone. If you are interested in providing a loving home to Buddy, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed 1/19/12)

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Buddy to the fantastic family in NY who also adopted Gnocchi! Buddy has adults home with him during workdays, a fenced yard, walks at the park, and other Italian Greyhounds to play with. Buddy was adopted on 3/10/12!

Buddy, an Italian Greyhound, needs a new home

Peyton - A five-year old Italian Greyhound in VA

Peyton, an Italian Greyhound in VA, available for adoption

Peyton requires more attention than his owner is able to provide and, although he has never exhibited aggressive behavior, is not comfortable around the young child in the home; he tries to avoid the child. Although housetrained, Peyton will occasionally mark in the house, so will need some patience and work in that area. He is crate trained, okay on leash, travels nicely by car (uses a travel kennel), and good with other dogs - he does become excited when he sees cats. This thirteen pound guy is active, very outgoing, and loves to cuddle. If you are interested in Peyton, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed 2/29/12)

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Peyton to a terrific couple in VA, where he is able to play in a fenced yard with two other small, canine companions, one of which is an Italian Greyhound. Peyton was adopted on 3/4/12!

Gnocchi - A seven-year old Italian Greyhound in NJ

A seven-year old Italian Greyhound in NJ

Sweet, little Gnocchi was in a shelter in PA and although he was adopted from the shelter, he was returned shortly after. Gnocchi was subsequently released into the care of Italian Greyhound Place and, after being fostered for a week by an Italian Greyhound Place volunteer, was adopted by a wonderful family in NY where he is enjoying his new people, the companionship of two retired adults during work hours, walks in the park, a fenced yard, and two canine friends, one of which is an Italian Greyhound. Gnocchi was adopted on 2/25/12!

Bennigan and Cosmo - Six-year old Italian Greyhounds in NJ

Welcome to Italian Greyhound Place, Bennigan and Cosmo!

Due to their previous owners' work responsibilities and two young children, Bennigan and Cosmo were crated too much, especially since they were also generally crated to keep them separated from the children (not due to any aggressiveness on the dogs' part). Their owners made the decision to surrender them to the care of Italian Greyhound Place. These guys are crate trained, do nicely on leash, and are housetrained - if walked or allowed to "go" on a regular schedule, there are minimal to no accidents. If they encounter another dog while being walked, they become very excited and bark, calming once they are allowed to "meet and greet" the other dog. Of the two, Bennigan is the more timid, especially around men, but he does warm to new people. Bennigan is the kiss giver and totally enjoys being played with, Cosmo loves to run and play with toys, and both love to be with, and cuddle with, their people. If you would like to provide a home for two, wonderful, fun Italian Greyhounds, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed 11/3/11)

Two bonded Italian Greyhounds being fostered in NJ by Italian Greyhound Place

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have rescued, fostered, and rehomed Bennigan and Kosmo to a sighthound experienced, retired man in NY. Since their adopter had an unusual trip planned to South America, these two boys remained in foster care (with a fantastic foster volunteer) awaiting their new human's return to, as he put it, "retrieve his family." Bennigan and Kosmo were adopted on 1/19/12!

Bruce and Nico - Two five-year old Italian Greyhounds in GA

Bonded Italian Greyhounds in GA available for adoption

Due to a change in their owner's living/marital situation, these best buddies are in need of a new home together. Bruce and Nico have been full-time indoor dogs, and are housetrained to use doggy pee pads (there are infrequent accidents near the pads). They are good  with children, cats,  and other dogs. Nico is loving and inquisitive, Bruce is super-loving and a people-pleaser, and both possess moderate to high energy levels. However, they both love to snuggle and relax. Bruce weighs in at twenty pounds, and Nico at twelve pounds. If you are interested in opening your home to these two, handsome boys, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed 11/10/11)

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Bruce and Nico to a fantastic family in NC. These guys have a fenced yard, which they already love, two canine companions (an Italian Greyhound and a mixed breed), a gentle human boy, and lots of love and attention. Bruce and Nico were adopted on 1/5/12!

Maci - A nine-month old Italian Greyhound Mix in NY

Welcome to Italian Greyhound Place, Maci!

Maci, who was pulled from a southern kill-shelter and transported to NY by a wonderful rescue organization, is now in the care of Italian Greyhound Place. This sweet girl weighs twenty pounds, is housetrained, likes to run and play, and will melt your heart. She has an underbite, which tends to make her muzzle all the cuter. Maci is great on-leash, but gets concerned if she sees other dogs or people during a walk, and will bark. She is responding out of fear and uncertainty, so will need an adopter to be patient while teaching her that such "sightings" are fine and, better yet, are associated with yummy treats. If you are interested in Maci, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 12/26/11)

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have rescued, fostered, and rehomed Maci to a wonderful couple in CT who were interested in Maci prior to her arrival here. Maci's new people enjoy the outdoors, as does Maci, there is a fenced yard, and Maci will have the company of a human companion during workdays. Maci was adopted on 12/29/11!

Italian Greyhound mix, Maci, is fostered by Italian Greyhound Place in NY

Koby - A six-year old Italian Greyhound in NY

Koby, an Italian Greyhound, is being fostered in NY by Italian Greyhound Place

Welcome to Italian Greyhound Place, Koby!

This twenty-three pound, purebred Italian Greyhound (yes, he is large for the breed!) has a great personality and is truly delightful. He is also a quick learner, mastering verbal cues, leash walking, and even housetraining skills with surprising speed. Koby is good with other dogs, and friendly when meeting people. Once he bonds with you, he loves to give hugs and cuddle next to you on the sofa. He will also occasionally jump into your lap for some shared together time. Although Koby settles down nicely inside, he enjoys playing with toys, and going for walks and runs. He is well-built and it is a pleasure to see him in motion. This guy is crate trained and travels very nicely by car. Koby has color dilution alopecia and, consequently, has hair loss predominantly on his back. Due to his skin coloration, the hair loss is not that noticeable and the condition does not affect his health. He also has a mild luxating patella that doesn't slow him down, and has had one seizure within an approximately two month time-frame (he is not on medication). Please do not be deterred by these conditions, or you will be missing out on a fabulous dog! If you are interested in sharing your home with this gentle guy, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed 11/5/11)

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have rescued, fostered, and rehomed Koby to a welcoming family in NY where he will have older children to play with, and a fenced yard to do so in. Koby was adopted on 12/23/11!
