Adopted Dogs - Summer 2010
Bella and Hana - Two eight-year old Italian Greyhounds in FL
These two, loving girls (Hana turned eight this past July 12th, and Bella will be nine on November 25, 2010) need a new home together. Unfortunately, they have faced many transistions in the past few months - from their original home to an adoptive home, back to their original home, and to another adoptive home.
Although their recent adopter intended to provide Bella and Hana with their forever home, a family emergency is requiring that they be rehomed. Both girls are healthy, although Hana does have food and grass allergies. Hana (and Bella) are currently eating, and doing well on, Natural Balance dogfood. Regarding the grass allergy, Hana needs her feet wiped after being outside - otherwise, she may chew on her feet or develop hives. They are housetrained to "go" outside, and do not have accidents when someone is home with them. However, if left for more than a few hours, they do have accidents. This could be due to the transistions that they have gone through, but it would be best to restrict their freedom when left alone until they are reliable. Bella and Hana both walk nicely on leash and are good with other dogs and cats. However, Hana does not seem fond of young children (she has growled at them), so they need a home without children under the age of thirteen. Bella has a tendency to bark at noise (again, this may be due to the transistions), but should be taken into account by a potential adopter. Bella loves to go for car rides, whereas they make Hana a bit anxious. These girls exhibit low energy with intervals of high-energy playing. They are sweet and like to cuddle. If you want two loving Italian Greyhounds and have a bit of patience, please consider giving Bella and Hana the forever home that they truly need. For more information, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 9/18/10)
Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have facilitated and arranged the adoption of Bella and Hana to a wonderful woman in Florida, where they will enjoy her companionship, as well as that of another canine companion. Bella and Hana were adopted on 9/20/10!
Jada - A three-year old Italian Greyhound in IL
This beautiful, nineteen-pound girl has a young owner who has a full-time job and is now a full-time student as well. As you can imagine, that does not allow her to provide Jada with the attention she needs. Jada is housetrained (she goes outside); walks nicely on leash and loves to go for walks; is good with other dogs, cats, and children; is crate trained; travels well by car; knows some tricks, and is very, very loving. She does need to expend her energy by going on walks or through other activity, or she will tend to be quite hyper. For more information or if you would like Jada to brighten your life, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 9/11/10)
Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have facilitated and arranged the adoption of Jada to a wonderful couple in MO, where Jada now has the companionship of two other Italian Greyhounds and a fenced yard to play in. Jada was adopted on 9/19/10!
Zoey - An eight-year old Italian Greyhound / Terrier mix in VA
This little twelve-pound girl has a happy nature and would be a great companion in a home without small children (she is nervous around them). Zoey is housetrained to "go" outside, either using a doggy door to a safely fenced area or while being walked on leash, and is accident free in her current home. She is energetic and active while playing, but then settles down and is cuddly and quiet. When being walked, she likes to sniff and explore. Zoey is fine with cats and dogs her size and smaller, but is not comfortable around large dogs. She loves to go places with her person/people, but is also fine when she needs to be left alone. For more information about this wonderful girl, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 9/3/10)
Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Zoey to a caring home in VA where she is enjoying her new family, including a small, canine friend. Zoey was adopted on 9/18/10!
Bailey and Mickey - A ten-year and five-year old Italian Greyhound in VA
These two male Italian Greyhounds need an adoptive home where they can stay together! Both Bailey and Mickey are approximately eighteen pounds, current with veterinarian care, and healthy. You cannot tell Bailey's age (he turned ten-years old on 7/21/10) from his activity level - he is very active and enjoys playing with Mickey. Mickey (who turned five in January 2010) likes to run and play chase; he is very fast. Both of these Italian Greyhounds are very friendly and like to be with their person or people. They are quite snuggly and like to burrow under covers. Bailey and Mickey are housetrained and "go" while being walked or when in a fenced in area (they are good leash walkers). Bailey and Mickey started marking after the addition of a large dog to the household. Therefore, the current owner keeps bellybands on them in the house; they do not mark while wearing them. If well-supervised when first adopted, it is quite possible that they will again be fine without bellybands. Both are crate trained. If you would like more information on Bailey and Mickey or would like to provide them with a forever home where they can enjoy your companionship while staying together, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 8/15/10)
Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Bailey and Mickey to a loving family in Virginia where they will be able to spend lots of time with their human companions. Bailey and Mickey were adopted on 8/23/10!

Coltrane, who weighs nineteen pounds, and Squirrel, who weighs twelve pounds, will be six-years old on October 30, 2010. They are both housetrained and currently go outside in an enclosed area. Coltrane and Squirrel walk nicely on leash, are crate trained, are good with other dogs, cats, and children, and travel well by car. These two are extremely sweet-tempered and friendly. They are playful if a human initiates it and will demonstrate a surge of activity if let out into a safely fenced yard, but are fairly calm and are content to rest the majority of the time. Please contact Italian Greyhound Place for more information or if you are interested in sharing the company of these two Italian Greyhounds. (Listed here on 8/3/10)
Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Coltrane and Squirrel to a wonderful, previous Italian Greyhound owner in TX. They are housetrained (they "go" outside); walk nicely on leash; are good with other dogs, cats and children; travel well by car; and are very loving. Montag - A three-year old Italian Greyhound/Chihuahua mix in CA
If you are looking for a lovable, high energy guy, Montag is waiting for you! Montag, who weighs 11 1/2 pounds, has lots of love to give and would like to share it with someone that will provide him with lots of attention and the opportunity to exercise. He walks well on leash (occasional tugs) and would love to accompany you on walks or jogs. Montag is current on veterinarian care, healthy, and micro-chipped. He is housetrained and does not have accidents in his current home. Large dogs make Montag nervous, and he will react by barking, but giving him lots of treats will make him forget that another dog is there. If left with other dogs, he is initially shy, but gradually becomes comfortable. He adjusts easier when in safe off-leash situations. Montag will chase running cats, but otherwise usually leaves them alone. When his current owner leaves the apartment, Montag barks for approximately two to five minutes (this could probably be alleviated by giving Montag a stuffed Kong or other treat toy to keep him occupied during the time that he usually vocalizes his objection). When meeting a new person, he is timid initially, but warms up quickly. He is very affectionate with his person (or people). Montag's current owner got Montag from a shelter about six months ago. Her living situation is changing soon, and Montag is in need of a forever home. If you might be interested in providing that home, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 7/18/10)
Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have facilitated and arranged the adoption of Montag to a woman in CA who loves animals and has welcomed Montag into her home. In addition to a loving human companion, Montag also has a small, canine companion to play with. Montag was adopted on 7/29/10!

Maia and Sasha - Five-year old Italian Greyhounds in NY
Welcome to Italian Greyhound Place, Maia and Sasha!
These beautiful girls need a home that is looking for double the pleasure of Italian Greyhound companionship! They enjoy each other's company, generally playing actively for five minutes and then relaxing together. They are housetrained to go outside, walk nicely on leash, are quiet (Maia rarely barks, and Sasha never barks), are crate trained, travel well by car, and are current with veterinary care. Maia and Sasha have been condo dwellers, so would do well in an apartment, as well as a single family home! Their owner has been faced with many life changes, necessitating that a new home be found for them. Would you like to provide that home? For more information, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 6/22/10)
Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have fostered (thanks to a generous volunteer) and arranged the adoption of Maia and Sasha to a wonderful man in NYwho had been looking for a pair of Italian Greyhounds and has welcomed them into his home. Maia and Sasha were adopted on 7/24/10!
Harley - A six-year old Italian Greyhound in KS
Harley is a twenty pound, male Italian Greyhound who turned six on July 1st. Harley is very versatile with his housetraining; he will go outside, during walks or in a fenced area, or on pee pads (usually during the winter). It is very rare for him to have an accident. This guy is very sweet and loves to be with his person. He can be a bit nervous and skittish at times, but that is common with the breed. He is good with dogs that are not super high-energy, and will play and run with dogs that he knows well. Harley loves cats! He is not crate trained and, when left alone, usually curls up on his dog bed or the couch. Harley's owner is faced with a move into accommodations that do not allow dogs and Harley needs a new home by August 4th. Would you like to provide that home? For more information about Harley, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 7/8/10)
Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Harley to a terrific family in Missouri where he will always have someone with him, will be walked and have a fenced yard to run in, and, most of all, the companionship of a man who really wants an Italian Greyhound buddy. Harley was adopted on 7/18/10!
Cricket - A two and one-half year old Italian Greyhound in MO
If you are looking for sweet and cuddly, alert and playful, then Cricket might be the Italian Greyhound for you. Cricket is housetrained to go outside and does very well if taken out regulary. He walks nicely on leash, is crate trained, and is current on veterinary care (although due for his yearly check-up later this month). He was raised with dogs, cats, and children, but is currently in a situation where he and a resident cat are terrified of each other. Cricket will be three in September 2010 and weighs approximately seventeen pounds. If you might be interested in providing Cricket with a forever home - he is currently in his second home, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 7/7/10)

Kaley - A two-year old puppy mill Italian Greyhound in MO
This little girl finally has a chance to experience a new life - would you like to be by her side while she does? Can you imagine the reward of watching her blossom under your patient care, and learning to love a human companion for the first time? At this point, Kaley is allowing her caretaker to approach and pet her, rather than running away. She gets along with other dogs and even with the caretaker's cat. Kaley has been using a doggy door, and is not having accidents in the house. This little girl would love to be well-settled in her forever home, where she could celebrate her birthday on August 19th. If you are interested in providing this little girl with a forever home, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. Kaley can be transported. She is current with veterinary care. (Listed here 4/28/10)
Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Kaley, an adoption that would not have taken place without the time and effort of the caring woman who rescued her from a puppymill, the transportation provided by a wonderful woman volunteering her time, and the willingness of a loving couple to welcome her into their home. Kaley is truly celebrating Independence Day - in her forever home with her own people and two Italian Greyhound companions in Kentucky. Kaley was adopted on July 4, 2010!
Sparkle - An approximately one-year old, large female Italian Greyhound (or mix) in NY
Welcome to Italian Greyhound Place, Sparkle!
This beautiful girl is approximately one-year old and weighs twenty pounds (a biggy iggy or possibly an Italian Greyhound mix). All that is known of Sparkle's background is that she has been at two shelters here in the Northeast. What I do know, is that Sparkle is extremely friendly and affectionate and is going to make her adopter very lucky to have her! She is friendly to people, as well as other dogs. When we got her, there were some cats outside the shelter and she basically ignored them. She is walking really nicely on a leash - it took her less than a block to catch on, and then, except for a few reminders, walked with a loose leash. She even got the idea to sit before I gave her dinner. We discovered that she is also treat motivated, so that will make it easier to teach her various commands. It is hard to believe that a dog like her could wind-up in a shelter. For more information on this special girl, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 6/17/10)
Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have rescued and arranged the adoption of Sparkle to a terrific family in NY that will provide her with lots of love and attention! Sparkle was adopted on 6/21/10!
