Lincoln

Welcome to Italian Greyhound Place, Lincoln!

Lincoln is being fostered with the intent to adopt

Italian Greyhound Place - Italian Greyhound foster dog

Lincoln was welcomed to Italian Greyhound Place by his experienced Italian Greyhound Place foster - a fantastic woman who adopted through Italian Greyhound Place way back in 2010 – adopting the tenth dog placed through Italian Greyhound Place. The dog she adopted came from a puppy mill and he was truly fortunate to have found his way to her. Following that adoption, she fostered for Italian Greyhound Place, welcoming dogs as they transitioned to forever homes,

and adopting two additional dogs who she was fostering. Of course, these two dogs are also fortunate to be with her!

Lincoln is being fostered with the intent to adopt and, although not adopted yet, has found his forever home. Lincoln has two adults and an older teenager to give him lots of love and attention, someone primarily home (and when left alone it is not for extended time periods), a fenced yard to run and play in, walks/outings to enjoy, and has benefited from the experience, patience, and love of his foster. Not only all of that, but he has canine companions, including Italian Greyhounds, to cuddle and play with! What his foster (soon to be adopter) is offering Lincoln is exactly what his previous owner desired for him.

Tremendous thanks to Lincoln’s foster and future adopter for welcoming Lincoln and providing him with such a wonderful environment.

Italian Greyhound Place would also like to thank Lincoln’s previous owner for working with Italian Greyhound Place and ensuring that his future would be happy and safe.

Lincoln’s current owner has made the tough decision to re-home Lincoln due to increasing reactivity between the three dogs in the household, with Lincoln’s canine companions being described as “temperamental and unpredictable.” Despite the situation with the dogs in his home, Lincoln does get along with other dogs and a home with another dog (an Italian Greyhound would be great) is being requested. Discussing Lincoln’s future home, his owner shared, “He needs to be in a family that understand IG’s and their needy nature, preferably with other IGs. I think he needs other pets in the house; I do not think he should be an only pet.”

Turning eight-years-old in December and weighing approximately nineteen pounds, Lincoln is described as “very cuddly, very loving, and a true lap dog.” In addition to enjoying a cuddly dog, Lincoln’s new person/people should want an active dog as this guy is “FULL of energy” and is accustomed to going on walks and hikes.

Lincoln is house trained to potty outside (on walks), but will have accidents if anxious or left alone without being crated/confined – he

does not have accidents when crated or left in a gated area (a double height baby gate is being used as Lincoln will jump lower baby gates). If left alone and not crated, he will tend to have accidents and get into mischief i.e., “He will jump on counters and search for things to play with or eat.” When in his crate, Lincoln loves to burrow beneath a blanket.

Car travel tends to make Lincoln nervous, although he does fine if sitting next to someone; he is good with children (he has lived with children who are currently teens); and, although he barks at things such as squirrels viewed through the window and the doorbell, he responds to “No.”
